Happy 4th of July

We celebrated the 4th this year on the 3rd and the 4th. On Saturday we went to Addison for a picnic and fireworks with some friends. We headed down about 5 and set up our chairs and blankets and coolers. About 5:45 it started pouring. We picked up all our stuff and sat in our cars for about 30 minutes. After a while of sitting in the car the kids were all getting stir crazy we decied to get out and sit under an overhang of a buliding that was near by. After the rain finally stopped we were able to head back to the grass and let the kids play and watch the fireworks! Stuff like this makes for great memories.

On Sunday we went to a BBQ to celbrate the 4th. We had a fun time just being together and letting the kids play. Sawyer has become quite close with these friends from school. The kids had fun swimming, playing soccer, and just being together. I forgot my camera so here are a few pictures courtsey of our friend Brooke. Hope everyone had a great 4th.

Paul's birthday gift

This year for Paul's birthday I decided to give him the gift of racing. Being the racing fan that he is, I knew this would be a great gift for him. I was right. He loved it so much, and said it was one of the most fun things he's ever done.
Texas Motor Speedway has a group called Team Texas. They are a driving school. They have real stock cars that you can drive on the actual track the real NASCAR drivers drive on. They have tons of different packages to choose from. Paul got the 10 lap package.
This is how it works. You start out with a 30 minute class explaining how the cars work and a lay out of the track, and what you'll actually see while you are out there. After the class they load up vans and take you out on the track for a couple laps to show what they were talking about in the class. Then you suit up, this includes a very flattering jump suit and helmet. They place you with a driver in the passenger side of your car along with you. There are 12 cars on the track at one time reaching speeds of up to 150 mph. This is where the fun begins. 1o laps in a real NASCAR on the track.
It was a neat experience, and i'm thrilled at how much Paul enjoyed himself. I'm not sure I will ever be able to top this one.
