Five For Friday!

Can you believe it's Friday already!!!!!! I love Fridays, it means Paul is home for the weekend and we get to do stuff as a family.

1) This time next week Sawyer and I will be in Palm Springs with the family for vacation. Which means we are only 4 days away from leaving for San Diego. We are so excited and really looking forward to seeing everyone. This morning Sawyer was telling me how muh he misses his cousins and how he can't wait to see them.

2) Today I am making all my freezer meals for Paul while I am gone. I'm looking forward to the end result-enough meals that Paul doesnt have to eat out for 3 weeks while i'm gone.

3) The sun has finally come out from behind the clouds. I'm so excited, we are definetly going to head to the pool this afternoon. I'm looking forward to getting some much needed sun before we go to Palm Springs.

4) I have found a new love this week, I have been eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch everyday for breakfast. I used to love it as a kid, so I bought a box thinking Sawyer would love it, which he does. Apparently I still do too.

5) Last night Paul and I got to go out just the two of us. We didnt do anything glamorous, we just grabbed sandwiches for dinner and went grocery shopping. It was so nice just to be together. It doesnt seem to matter what we do, I just love being with him. Thanks for hanging out with me last night babe, I love you!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Freezer Meals!!

Sawyer and I are getting ready to head to San Diego for 3 weeks. We are so excited to see everyone. We will miss Paul (daddy) so much. I had this great idea that I would be super organized, and make a bunch of meals and freeze them for Paul. This way Paul would be able to eat at home, and not have to eat out every meal while we are gone. However I have waited till almost the last minute to do these meals. So tomorrow I will be spending most of my day in the kitchen cooking and freezing. I'm planning on making stuffed shells, chicken pastina, macaroni and cheese, chili, and lasagne. Hopefully all will go well and Paul will have a weel stocked freezer before I leave.

Five for Friday

So this is not an original idea, i'm stealing it from a few of the other blogs I read. The idea is to post 5 things about your week, or 5 things going on in your life, or 5 random thoughts....you get the idea. So here goes my first "Five for Friday."
1) We have completed our "new members" class at the church and will officially become members this Sunday. We are looking forward to being able to serve in the church, and especially excited to get back to working in Childrens ministry. We do love the kiddos.

2) I am continuing to clear out or fridge and freezer, so I can stock them up with meals while i'm gone for Paul so he doesn't eat out every meal. It's getting more and more difficult to come up with meal ideas, when you are down to chicken and turkey.

3) We are less than 2 weeks out from our visit back home, and Sawyer and I are sooooo excited to see everyone. It's been about 5 months since we've been back home, so we are due for a visit. We will be in San Diego a little more than 3 weeks. We will spend a week vacationing in Palm Springs which is always a highlight of our summer, and the rest of the time will be spent visiting with friends and family.

4) Wow this is harder than I thought,( and my life is pretty boring). Paul has been at his new job for 3 months now, and really seems to be enjoying it. His company is having a bbq tomorrow night, so we are looking forward to getting to meet some of the people he works with.

5) We have spent the last couple of weeks, looking for health insurance, and are coming up short. The process is so overwhelming, and completley foreign to me. I dont understand any of it, and the people I speak with, use the same terms as the computer and I still dont undersatnd them. So the search continues. Oh well.

So there it is, my first Five for Friday. Not the most interesting, but it's whats going on in our life right now. Have a great weekend.

Our Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend, with even more wonderful weather. The weather here has been over 100 for the past 2 weeks, so when the weather report was prediciting 95 as a high we were more than thrilled. Saturday was beautiful we headed to the Russell Creek Park, for a picnic and to feed the ducks. It was 85 with a breeze, we sat in the shade and had our lunch. It was wonderful to be able to spend sometime outdoors as a family. Especially here in Texas during the Summer. Then we went down t othe pond and saw the turtles, fish and of course the ducks. Sawyer loves to feed the ducks. When we were finished we stopped off at Target for some groceries. Never one to pass up a chance to browse through the clothes, I hit the clerance rack and got some capris for $ 4.oo. It was awesome. We spent the rest of the day hanging out at home catching up on some house chores and watching movies. It was a wonderful day. Sunday started with a trip to Starbucks on our way to church. Church was great as usual with an added bonus this week.....baby dedications. It was so fun to see all the babies up there being dedicated to the Lord. It was extra special for us as some of our great friends here had their babies dedicated. Congrats Palmers and Shipleys, we are so happy for you guys and your little guys. After church we headed to Gatti Town for a celebration lunch in honor of baby Owen ( he was dedicated this morning). We had a great time celebrating with our good friends the Palmers. Thanks guys for the invite! We spent the rest of the afternoon just relaxing at home. We had a church meeting tonight, to discuss the new building plans and just to keep everyone up to date. It's so exciting to see what the Lord is doing in Frisco and how He is providing for our church. Then we headed to one of our new favorite places with the Palmers again....The Snow Cone Lady. I had a pina colada with cherry. Paul had a double cherry with sour stuff. We love the Snow Cone Lady and are sure to visit again soon. Wow...what a great weekend we have had.

We're falling apart at the seams here!

The Ac was finally fixed at 6:30 on Tuesday night, thank you God! Life was back to normal and all was well. Until last night... my dear sweet husband was rinsing the dishes when the sink handle came flying off. Paul doing the dishes....I knew it was to good to be true :) So now the water is just running and running, with no way of turning it off. Paul decided to bust out the very few tools he has and was going to fix it. If you know Paul you know he is great at most things, but handy man things just aren't his strong suit. However he was able to get the water turned off and has created a system using a screw driver and a pair of pliers for turning the water off and on until they come to fix it today. That system was working fine, until this morning I was trying to turn it on and seem to have made it worse, so now we cant get the water on or off at all in the kitchen. AAAHHHH. We love our apartment, but it seems to be falling apart these days. Our lease is almost up and it's making us think twice about re-upping our lease here for another year. Especially when things don't seem to be fixed as quickly as they tell you they are going to be. Thats the drama for the day, hope your day starts off better than mine.

102 and No AC...kill me now

Texas heat has been an adjustment for our family, to say the least. We used to think Poway got hot, but it doesnt compare to a Texas Summer day. The heat and humidity here are in a league of their own. Yesterday we had gone to the pool around 2:00 and returned home about 3:00 an hour is about all you can manage when it's 102 outside. Sawyer went down for a little rest and I was playing the Wii. It was warm inside but I figured I was warm from working out on the Wii. That may have been part of it. When I had finished " excercising" which is really more like playing. It was getting very uncomfortable inside, it struck me that I couldn't here the AC blowing, I went to check on it and it was set at 75 NO WAY it was 75 in here. I called Paul and quickly told me there was nothing he could do about it from work and to call the office. I called the office and the after a few questions the office manager decided that the breaker just needed to be flipped, well this presented a couple of problems for me 1) I have no idea where the breaker box is and 2) which switch do I flip? I finally found the breaker box and lucky for me the switches were marked accordingly. I flipped the switch and nothhing, I flipped it again and still nothing. I called back and explained what had happened....NOTHING. She said she would call maintenence. Great I'm excited becasue at this point its almost unbearable in here. Finally (about 45 minutes later) the guy shows up to tell me the compressor has blown, and they cant get another one till tomorrow, instantly I ask him if we are going to die here tonight. See unlike San Diego and Poway, Texas is hot during the day AND at night. It never cools off here. I mean its 97 at 10:30 at night. I didnt know what we were going to do, if we would have been at home we would have paced up and headed to the in-laws for the night, we dont have the Luxury here. The maintenece guy said they could put in a window unit for us, but he said its tiny and will not cool your house down. WOW that sounds great, where do we sign up for that. Anyways with no other options we took the little window unit and decided we would try and cool off the living room enough that we could sleep in there without dying in our sleep. He put it in and explained that the new compressor SHOULD be in tomorrow by 2 and fully installed by 3, but he couldnt promise anything, again really reassuring. He went on his way and Sawyer and I sat in living room hovering around this mini AC unit. I know this sounds like a lot of complaining, so I have decided to tell you the pros about this situation, 1) It was too hot to cook dinner so we got to go out when Paul got home. We had Chipotle. 2) We got to spend the evening with our great friends the Palmers who opended there home to us while we waited for our sauna I mean house to cool off enough for us to sleep, we always enjoy our time there. And 3) Sawyer had his first camp "in". Now back to the complaining, I'm writing this post from my living room, again hovering around the little AC unit in our window as it is 88 degrees already and it's only 8:00 AM. it's supposed to be 103 today YIKES. 2:00 Pm can't come fast enough today. My dear friend Stephanie has been so kind to come rescue us in a little bit and take us to Costco with her so we can get out of this heat. Stephanie you're the best. Please pray for the safe delivery of our new air compressor and that our day flies by and 2:00 comes fast.

Help I dont know what i'm doing!!!!!

I have decided to start a blog. I have become a huge fan of blogging in last 6 months, by that I mean reading other people's blogs. I'm excited about the opportunity for my family and friends to keep up with our life here in Texas. I have no idea what i'm doing, but i'm sure you will get some good laughs as I learn. Our life isn't that interesting but there will be plenty of pictures of Sawyer and thats all our family cares about anyway. If you have any helpful tips or ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy the blog and come back for more.
