Pumpkins and Palmers!

Sawyer's preschool puts on a big harvest festival every year, much like the one our church back home puts on. So needless to say we were excited, because last year we went to one and it was nothing like LWC's Harvest festival, which of course we were comparing it too. We were so excited about it we invited our friends the Palmers to go with us. Sawyer was so excited because he was going to be able to wear his Buzz Lightyear costume. He loves his costume so much, that he really believes he is Buzz when he wears it. We are to call him either Buzz, or Sawyer Buzz, he wont answer to just Sawyer. We had been talking about the festival, and all the fun games and activities it would have for over a week. So Yesterday we got ready, and got Sawyer in his costume and headed to the festival. The Palmers did the same, dressing their adorable girls in their princess dresses. As we pull into the parking lot, we see nothing, no cars, no people, no games, no bouce houses...and this horrible feeling comes over me. I say," maybe it's around back." Knowing good and well that it wasn't. As we pull around to the back we see the Palmers in the parking lot. The ONLY other car in the parking lot. As you probably already guessed we missed it. It was Friday. I felt awful, it's one thing to dissapoint your own kid, but to dissapoint some elses kid is even worse. We drove around to a few other churches to see if maybe they had something going on.....they didn't. There we were with 3 little kids in their costumes with nowhere to go. Luckily Nate and Steph new of a Chruch that had a pumpkin patch. We ended up picking out pumpkins and going back to the Palmers for ice cream and pumpkin carving. The kids had such a good time picking out there pumpkins and just being together. It was so funny to see our kids picking out their pumpkins in there Halloween costumes. Just running around like this is where we were supposed to be the whole time. I'm so thankful for their forgiving spirits. We ended up having a wonderful time, just being together. Thanks Palmers for being so flexible, and so kind when I dissapoint your children. We love you guys! Here are some pictures of our evening.

My Garage Sale Finds!!!!

Last Saturday, I went to my first garage sale. I can remeber having garage sales, but I don't recall ever going to any. I went with my friend Erin, and really enjoyed it. I found some fun stuff for Sawyer and had fun just seeing what other people were trying to get rid of. My favorite finds were an easel for Sawyer...$8.00 and a Light Bright....$2.00. I had a Light Bright as a kid and loved it. As you can see from the pictures below they have come along way in the last 15 years. I know Sawyer and I are going to have so much fun playing with it. Enjoy the pics!

Here is the easel, it has a magnetic board on the other side.

This is serious business!

Our little artist!

Sawyer has been making so many wonderful things at school. It seems like there is always a new picture he has drawn, or something he has painted waiting for me when I pick him up from school. It's hard, because I would love to be able to keep all these wonderful treasures he makes, but it's just not possible. I had been selecting a few pieces that I know I couldn't live without, and throwing the rest away. Then Sawyer began asking me where his pictures were. So we came up with a system. We bought a cork board and dedicated a wall to his art work. Each week we hang up the pieces he has made and, the following week we throw them out to make room for the new pieces. We are going to start a box to keep any special pieces that we want to save. So far this has worked out well. Here are some pictures of the things he has been making.
Here is the wall for his art work.

This one is a keeper, look at that hair!!!

This is also a keeper.

This is the picture on the green paper. It's on the top of his cork board, in the first picure. I just had to get a close up of that face:)

Pumpkin Picking

Saturday afternoon we went to a little pumpkin patch to let Sawyer get a pumpkin. He really enjoyed seeing all the different colored (thats right, this pumpkin patch had not only orange, but white and gold) pumpkins. They had them in many sizes too, his favorites seemed to be the little tiny pumpkins you would decorate with. We ended up with a regular sized pumpkin and will be carving it soon. Hope you are all enjoying the season. Here are a few pictures. Enjoy!

Down on the Farm!

I will keep this short, there are a lot of pictures to get to. A family in our care group has a farm. Yesterday they invited the whole crae group out for a bbq potluck. We had a great time. The kids really enjoyed seeing all the animals( 6 dogs, 4 cats, 4 goats, chickens, and 4 horses). The highlight of the day was getting to ride the horses. Each of the kids and a few of the adults each took a turn going for a ride on Malika. It was so much fun getting to spend the afternoon with everyone. Thanks to the Tatems for having everyone over. I hope you enjoy the pics, there are a bunch.
